This is the first part of a two part project I've been working on for the past few months. After graduating from college, I was inspired to go back to the saxophone I started on, and record some solo tracks. What I recorded ended up being split between these two EPs. With Ascent, I wanted to focus on the simple beauty that can be found in solo playing. I use some simple delay effects, but I tried to not go overboard on this first half. Tracks 1 and 3 were recorded at The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, Tracks 2 and 4 were recorded in my living room. Track 5 is a field recording from Cloud Hill and is meant to give the listener a moment of rest before continuing on to Dissent.
